Valentine’s Day Makeup {mini tutorial + review}

IMG_9110

Valentine’s Day is just a few short days away! Whether you have a date night planned, or are going out with your best girlfriends, it’s such a fun time to try a more dramatic makeup look. I collaborated with my friend Brooke, who is an Arbonne consultant, to bring you this go-to glam makeup look. I’m going to give you a step-by-step of how to get this eye look and go into an in depth review of my thoughts on these products!

{Tutorial}

  • Start out by applying your eyeshadow primer of choice
  • Use a blending brush to apply the shade ‘Sand‘ to the crease area
  • Apply the shade ‘Linen‘ all over the lid area with a flat shader brush
  • Without using any more product, use the blending brush from earlier to blend out the crease
  • Use a tapered blending brush to apply ‘Lilac’ lightly to the outer half of the crease
  • To deepen the look, use the same tapered blending brush to apply ‘Divine Plum‘ to the outer half of the crease
  • Use the blending brush from earlier to blend it all out
  • Apply liner {winged liner makes a more dramatic look}, mascara, and smoke out the lower lashline using ‘Sand‘ on a pencil brush. Finish off the look with applying mascara on the lower lash line
  • Optional: use a black eyeshadow of choice, and a flat top eyeliner brush to smoke out the winged liner

  • Eyeshadows: Overall, I really did like the eyeshadows. My only problem with them is that they did take a bit of time to blend out. If you are patient when applying them, you will achieve the seamless look that you’re going for. The pigmentation and shades themselves are beautiful!
  • Mascara: I think that it’s safe to say that this is one of the best mascaras that I have ever used! I love how it provides the perfect balance of length and thickness without clumping. It’s great that this product is made without all of the usual chemicals that go into regular mascara. This helps my eyelashes not to dry out after applying.
  • Liquid Foundation: I was really impressed with this product. It’s not going to provide a full coverage with just one layer, but it is definitely buildable. What’s nice about this foundation is that it doesn’t give you that cakey makeup feel that some fuller coverage foundations give. I would recommend this product for day to day wear.
  • Powder Foundation: I don’t normally use powder foundation, but I used this product to lightly set my liquid foundation and absolutely loved it! I don’t think I would use it by it’s self, since I normally have dry skin, but using this to set my foundation worked perfectly! Use a light hand when applying so it doesn’t look cakey.
  • Overall Conclusion: I definitely love these makeup products! I love that all of their products are pure, and vegan. It’s so great to know everything that’s put into the makeup that you’re applying to your face, and they even list an ingredient guide on their website. I’m definitely impressed with the quality and the standards that Arbonne holds for their products.

    I love purple eye shadow and this look is so beautiful! You could easily make it day time/work appropriate too. I’ve used some Arbonne products in the past and they were really good.
